What is CEBuddy?
A free, guided workbench for CE-marking machinery under EU Regulation 2023/1230. It takes you from ‘what is this machine?’ all the way to a signed Declaration and a complete technical file — one careful step at a time.
Who it's for
Machine builders, integrators and safety engineers who must place machinery on the EU market and are responsible for its conformity. CEBuddy is decision-support for the person doing that work — not a replacement for their engineering judgement.
How it works
CEBuddy guides one machine through the whole assessment, in order. Each step builds on the last.
Identification, intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse.
Work out the conformity route — self-declare, or is a Notified Body required?
Identify hazards and reduce them by the three-step method.
Go through every Essential Health & Safety Requirement of Annex III.
List the harmonised standards applied, for presumption of conformity.
Calculate the achieved Performance Level (PL/SIL) and check it meets the requirement.
Declaration, Instructions for Use, Technical File and PL/SIL report.
A tamper-evident audit trail backs the 10-year retention duty.
What you get
- A guided wizard that seeds classification, standards, hazards and safety-function templates from ~25 questions.
- A SISTEMA-style EN ISO 13849-1 / IEC 62061 engine that calculates the achieved Performance Level / SIL, with the full calculation chain shown.
- Generated EU Declaration of Conformity (or Incorporation), Instructions for Use, Technical File index and PL/SIL verification report.
- A robotics track for cobot and robot-cell projects (ISO 10218 checklists, PFL biomechanical limits, speed-and-separation).
- Standards-anchored calculators, SISTEMA/VDMA 66413 interchange, and an append-only audit hash-chain.
- Worked-example demo projects you can load to see how a complete file fits together.
Honest by design
- Free to use, supported by voluntary donations — there is no charge and no paywalled feature.
- Decision-support, not certification: CEBuddy assists you, but the manufacturer remains solely responsible for the machine and its documentation.
- Your machine designs are confidential. Data is hosted in the EU and never shared between accounts.
- Open about its limits — where reference data or a translation is provisional, the tool says so rather than guessing.
