Terms of Use
By creating an account or using CEBuddy ("the Service") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What CEBuddy is — and is not
CEBuddy is a decision-support workbench for a qualified engineer working on machinery safety and conformity under EU Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 and related instruments. It helps you organise information and produce draft documents and calculations.
CEBuddy is not a Notified Body, a certification service, legal advice, or a substitute for professional engineering judgement. It does not certify, assess, or guarantee the conformity, safety, or lawfulness of any product.
2. Your responsibility
You are responsible for the correctness of everything you enter and for independently reviewing and verifying every output before you rely on it. The manufacturer, their authorised representative, or the person named as declarant on any document remains solely and legally responsible for that document and for the conformity and safety of the product. Where a Notified Body assessment is required, you must obtain it; CEBuddy does not replace it. You are responsible for holding any licences required for standards or reference data you use.
3. A wrong result can cause harm
Functional-safety outputs (such as Performance Level or SIL results) and risk assessments depend entirely on the data you provide and on assumptions you must check. An incorrect input, an untested assumption, or a misread result can lead to an unsafe machine. Treat every result as a draft to be validated by a competent person.
4. Free service, no warranty
The Service is provided free of charge and "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. Voluntary donations do not create any contractual right, service level, or support obligation. The Service may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn at any time.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator and author of CEBuddy accept no liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage — including personal injury, loss of profits, business interruption, or loss of data — arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service or its outputs. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law.
6. Your data
Your use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy. You can export and delete your data as described there.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service unlawfully, do not attempt to access other users' projects or data, and do not attempt to disrupt or probe the Service except under an authorised security test agreed with the operator.
8. Changes
These terms may be updated. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
